These cropped, wide leg trousers are popping up everywhere - from the streets of Milan Fashion Week to the high-street windows of H&M and River Island. Victoria Beckham rocked them early on and even though Miroslava Duma has shown us how the trend can work (even on a petite woman) I can't bring myself to give them a go. They aren't easy to wear, the wide/boxy fit can make even a toned calf look stick thin and they really must be worn with a high heel. Finding the right top is crucial - Miroslava has the right idea, the tight maroon turtleneck balances out the weight of the shorts and sticking with a monochrome palate gives her long lean lines. In contrast, the other two layered looks are too bulky up top. With Victoria, I'd lose the knit and swap in a fitted white button-up blouse and with the pale blue outfit I'd lose the blue blouse under the jacket and tuck in a fitted white tee. Her blue heels though, can stay. How gorgeous are they?!
Although I like to give new trends a shot (even if just as a test in the fitting room), I think this is one I will let pass me by. I will be trying the floor length version however - these striped ones are perfection.
