Chanel Haute Couture S/S 2014

by Kayla Kluver

Before Christmas, I took a styling course at the London College of Fashion. For our final project we had to create two looks that "re-imagined" Chanel. After researching the brand in depth, I fell in love. Coco Chanel's journey to the top is inspiring and her trademark sophistication is still apparent in the line today.  So I was pleased (though not surprised) that the Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2014 collection was such a hit. The colours and fabrics were whimsical and light, the pieces elegant yet oh-so wearable. High heels were nowhere to be seen, replaced with sparkly trainers which lent a youthful, playful vibe to the whole show (well, that and the knee pads)! Model Cara Delevingne was the star of the show and perfectly complimented the mix of high fashion and street style.  We've already seen trainers popping up on the feet of the fashion elite (and not just at the gym), so it will be interesting to see how this trend trickles down to the masses on the high street. Its a look me (and my feet) are happy to adopt! Would you give it a go?
