Cold Feet

by Kayla Kluver

Over the weekend I moved into a new flat with hardwood floors throughout. They are absolutely lovely to look at, but first thing in the morning they are bloody cold - farewell barefoot living (for the next few months at least). I already own a pair of raggedy old slippers - a cheapo pair I bought a couple years ago and have worn to death. The grip on the sole is all but worn away so I slide across the floor like Tom Cruise in Risky Business (and not on purpose, I swear). Sounds fun, but I'm beginning to think it's a safety hazard. Oddly, it was difficult to find a pair I really like - it's either uber frilly or ultra old (lady that is). Then I stumbled upon Anthropologie's faux fur slippers which look like just about the softest, most delicious thing I've ever seen. At £58 they aren't cheap, but I'm sure they are worth the dough. Maybe I'll ask Santa for this plush pair for Christmas. KKxx

Getting out of my running tights...

by Kayla Kluver

For someone who loves clothes and fashion so very much, I spend an embarrassing amount of time (i.e. all my time) on weekend afternoons in workout clothes. But it's London, and I walk everywhere! I run errands, walk Hampstead Heath and get coffee, so heading out in my trainers just makes sense. Plus, I've convinced myself if I wear trainers to bop around, it's a workout. But this past weekend I decided it was about time the barista at my local coffee shop saw that I do in fact own clothes that aren't stretchy and held up with an elastic waistband, so I put on Zara jeans and a cosy Primark sweater. Stripes and leopard is a winning combo - not groundbreaking, I realise - but a definite step up from my running tights. KKxx

Fancy Pants

H&M - FRENCH CONNECTION - H&M

H&M - FRENCH CONNECTION - H&M

Our tops, dresses, bags; they get their fair share of bejeweled, sequined fun. I wonder if our trousers feel left out? They may get splashed with the occasional bold print or colour, but how often do they get to be the hero piece? Not that often - in my wardrobe at least. So I got quite excited when I spotted a gorgeous pair of forest green, sequined trousers while digging through French Connection's site today. They are bold, yes. But paired with a simple knit and brogues, this would be a knockout look for the office. Come evening, I'd pair them with a sleek black tuxedo jacket and strappy heels. H&M do a similar pair in silver (for a fraction of the price) as well as a toned-down black pair with elegant beading along the front (photo doesn't do them justice). I think I would get the most wear out of the black pair and at only £39.99 they'd pay themselves off in no time. Would you give any of these a go? Happy Friday! KKxx

Nap Hard

by Kayla Kluver

About three months ago I was graciously gifted a Zara gift-card (my friends knows me so well) but I only just got round to using it last week?! Not for lack of trying - I went in store half a dozen times to scope out the racks. But of course, when you have money to spend, you can't find anything. That, and I was exercising a surprising level of restraint - I wanted to use the gift card wisely, to treat myself to something I may not have purchased on my own dime. My patience paid off (eventually) because I stumbled across a pair of suede knee high boots with a chunky 60's style heel. They are surprisingly comfortable - by which I mean, when walking is kept to a minimum I can make it relatively blister free through a whole day - and the colour is warm and autumnal. I also picked up this black t-shirt that says "nap hard." I'm a big fan of a Saturday or Sunday curled up on the sofa so it just felt right. I styled my new treasures with faux leather leggings from Topshop and an H&M trench. We shot the outfit on an old bridge near my house - the railings were a great rusty red, but to be frank the location's desirability was mainly down to the fact that it was almost deserted - I get very self conscious having my picture taken while people pass by. What do you think? How would you style these boots? KKxx
